Big Ben is probably the most well-known symbol of London!
I haven’t traveled for about a month now and so thought it was about time that I picked a photo of the week from good old home sweet home. Given that Big Ben will chime its last bong today (until 2021) this photo seems an apt choice. I currently live in London, so in theory I should have a hat-full of photos of Big Ben, but weirdly I only had three to pick from. I guess it’s true that you never play the tourist in your home city! As you’re probably reminded in every pub quiz you enter, Big Ben is actually the bell in Elizabeth Tower. If you’re looking for a great shot of the tower then walk across Westminster Bridge to the opposite bank of the Thames and turn right on to the Thames Path. As you come down the stairs turn right and back on yourself and you’ll find a great little alcove from which you can set up a tripod without people tripping all over you. Then walk your way back across the bridge taking photos as you go (My wife also tells me this is the view Monet used to paint his Houses of Parliament series)!
Big Ben is one of Instagram’s most photographed places in the World (Number 7, in fact). Check out some of the others here.
